Celebrating World Ocean Day with VANITY GROUP: Our Commitment to OceanBound Materials
World Ocean Day is a global event highlighting the crucial role our oceans play in sustaining life on Earth. While it is a day to observe and commemorate the ocean and its beauty, it is also a reminder of the urgent need to protect and conserve it from threats of pollution and climate change.
At VANITY GROUP, we believe that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand and are dedicated to contributing to marine conservation and protecting the ocean. To demonstrate this commitment, VANITY GROUP’s Mindful Beauty Project incorporates OceanBound Materials in packaging and manufacturing products, to not only reduce our carbon footprint but also support initiatives that clean up our coastlines and prevent further pollution.
What Are OceanBound Materials?
OceanBound Materials are plastics collected from high-risk areas near coastlines where they are at risk of entering the ocean. These areas are typically within 50 kilometers of the shore in regions lacking effective waste management systems. By intercepting this plastic before it reaches the ocean, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our marine environments.
How We Incorporate OceanBound Materials
We are always looking for ways to innovate at VANITY GROUP and our packaging is one of the main ways we can look towards being more sustainable. We have designed our packaging to include OceanBound Material where we can, ensuring that every piece of our product contributes to the reduction of marine pollution.
How Does It Work?
We’re glad you asked! OceanBound Materials are collected from high-risk areas and recycled into various forms of plastic pellets. These recycled pellets are then ready to be used to manufacture our hotel bottles and tubes in luxurious designs for our hotel partners.
Once these products are in the hands of guests, they will be able to see the OceanBound Material logo on the back, signaling the bottle they are using has become apart of the OBM life cycle and will contribute to minimising ocean pollution.
This form of recycling not only gives back to our planet immediately, but also continuously keeps us conscious of the decisions we make regarding our environmental responsibly, and in turn, scrapes more than just the surface.
Our goal here is to be accountable for our waste management and acknowledge our impact on the longevity of our environment and more specifically beautiful oceans across the globe.
