ENGAGEMENT FOSTERING CONNECTION
DILKARA proudly supports the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which was founded in 2004 with the aim of raising funds to improve literacy outcomes in remote Australia. Programs focus on quality resources that support the community, books in native languages, and publishing community stories. Their purpose is to improve Indigenous families’ lives by providing culturally appropriate books and empowering communities to tell and publish their own stories in their languages.
Since the ILF was founded, they have established strong relationships with the publishing industry. In 2023 the ILF distributed 120,000 books to 356 remote Communities and raised $6.2m. In 2024, the ILF will deliver 137,000 books to over 430 communities around the country, and grow to over 116 locations.
The DILKARA Hotel Collection donates 5% of profits to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
